NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATIONS
Residents of the Grandmont Rosedale area are represented by a number of different neighborhood associations. Each one is listed and described below.
North
Rosedale Park Civic Association
North Rosedale Park, an historic Detroit neighborhood of 1694 homes, is
bounded by McNichols on the north, Southfield on the east, Grand River on the
south and Evergreen to the west.
Homeowners in this area are represented by the North Rosedale Park Civic
Association (NRPCA).
NRPCA “exists to promote the interests and welfare of all
residents of the community. The Association is governed by the ten-member Board
of Directors which is elected in January by active members of NRPCA. The
Association is incorporated in the State of Michigan and is bound by the
Constitution and By-Laws of the NRPCA.”
The six-acre park
surrounding the Community House has a playground, a baseball diamond and three
soccer fields. On a daily basis, hundreds of people take advantage of the Park's
safe and beautiful environment for walking and jogging. In winter, the two
soccer fields are flooded for ice skating. This is the largest privately-owned
park in Detroit. The building and surrounding park are owned
by the members of the North Rosedale Park Civic Association. Maintenance and
improvement of the grounds are paid through Civic Association dues and fees from
rental
of the Community House. Rosedale
Park Improvement Association
“City
living is great. It’s best in
Rosedale Park.” The Rosedale Park
neighborhood is bounded on the east by the Southfield Freeway, on the south by
Acacia and by Lyndon, on the west by Evergreen and by Outer Drive, and on the
north by Grand River. The Rosedale Park neighborhood is also bordered by two
beautiful city parks, Flintstone Park and Stoepel Park.
Residents of Rosedale Park are represented by the Rosedale Park
Improvement Association (RPIA).
RPIA sponsors a number of
annual activities for residents, including an Easter Egg Hunt at Stoepel Park,
the June Day Parade/Picnic, an Annual Banquet,
a Golf Outing, an annual
30-Block Yard Sale and an Annual Children’s Holiday Festival in early
December. RPIA also contracts for
street snow plowing, maintains the brick walls at the entrances to the
neighborhood, and replaces trees throughout the neighborhood, as well as
providing leadership on neighborhood issues/conflicts and pressuring various
City departments for needed improvements such as street paving, lighting, police
presence, signage and zoning enforcement. Grandmont

Home of Good Neighbors” The Grandmont subdivision
is bordered by Schoolcraft Road on the south, Asbury Park on the east, Grand
River on the north and the Southfield Freeway on the west. This neighborhood of 1200 homes and businesses includes the
Detroit Edison Public School (grades K-6) and the newly renovated adjacent park,
Ramsay Park. Residents are
represented by the Grandmont Community Association (GCA). GCA is governed by an
elected Board of Directors, who meet monthly at the Chaney branch of the Detroit
Public Library on Grand River.
GCA maintains an attractive web site at www.grandmonitor.org
and publishes a monthly newsletter, The Grandmonitor, distributed free to
all residents by block captains.
GCA sponsors a number of
annual activities, including an Annual Meeting, Clean-Sweep Week, Ramsay Park
Clean-Up, a summer Garage Sale, an Arts and Craft Fair in the fall, and a
holiday Tour of Lights.
GCA also maintains neighborhood signage and advocates for residents with
City of Detroit departments for improved services and responses, as well as
liaison with the local police precinct.
GCA also awards college scholarships to outstanding high school graduates
from the neighborhood.
Detroit, MI 48223 313-838-7333 The Grandmont #1
neighborhood is bounded by the Southfield Freeway on the east, Schoolcraft Road
on the south, Grandville Street on the west, and Lyndon and Acacia Streets on
the north. Located just adjacent to
the Grandmont #1 area is Peter Vetal Public School (K-8) and newly renovated
Flintstone Park. Residents of the area are
represented by the Grandmont #1 Improvement Association (G#1IA), which publishes
a quarterly newsletter, the Grandmont #1 Informer.
Regular meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month at Macedonia
Baptist Church, 14221 Southfield Road. G#1IA
contracts for street snow plowing, organizes neighborhood security patrols, and
advocates for residents with City of Detroit departments, as well as organizing
activities for neighborhood and community improvement and maintaining contact
with the police precinct. Schoolcraft
Improvement Association P. O. Box 35825 Detroit, MI 48235 “People who care about
Detroit” The Schoolcraft
neighborhood is bounded by Greenfield on the east, Fullerton Road on the south,
Southfield Freeway on the west, and Schoolcraft Road on the north.
The neighborhood includes Dossin Elementary School (K-6), located on
Glendale. Residents are represented
by the Schoolcraft Improvement Association (SIA), which works to preserve the
quality of life in Detroit, with a special emphasis on the immediate
neighborhood. The SIA promotes
community control of efforts to preserve and enhance the physical environment
and historical characteristics of the community, including the homes, commercial
buildings, vacant land and parks. The SIA sponsors an annual
Scholarship Award Dinner, to present a substantial college scholarship award,
the Aaron L. Willis Scholarship Award, to an outstanding high school graduate
from the area, as well as the Abraham Rice Community Service Award, presented to
a neighborhood resident who has made outstanding contributions to the
improvement of the neighborhood.

The Minock Park
neighborhood is bounded by Outer Drive on the east, Fenkell on the south,
Evergreen on the west, and Grand River on the north.
Residents are represented by the Minock Park Community Association (MPCA),
which publishes a neighborhood newsletter, The Park Voice,
and holds monthly meetings the third Monday of each month.
The MPCA contracts for street snow plowing and works to preserve and
strengthen the neighborhood, as well as maintaining liaison with the police
precinct.
