You can support the work of GRDC by contributing to our endowment fund.  Recently established at the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan, the GRDC NEIGHBORHOOD LEGACY FUND allows you to make a donation to our neighborhood that literally will last forever.

What is an endowment fund?

A charitable endowment fund is an arrangement that is designed to have the principal grow over time while it pays out an annual percentage of the fund’s asset value to the designated agency.  By making a contribution to an endowment, you make a gift that lasts forever.  Your gift may also qualify you for a special Michigan tax credit . 

Your $400 gift may cost you as little as $56

The State of Michigan offers a tax credit for charitable gifts to endowment funds of the Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan.  Michigan law permits individuals to reduce Michigan Income Tax by a credit of 50% of the amount contributed to a permanent endowment.*  For example, if a married couple with a federal income tax rate of 36%  contributed $400 to GRDC’s NEIGHBORHOOD LEGACY FUND, they could receive a Michigan tax credit of $200, and an additional reduction in their Federal tax liability of $144.  The state tax savings of $200 and the federal tax savings of $144 result in a total tax savings of $344.  The married couple’s gift of $400 ends up costing them only $56.

 2.  Make your check payable to “Community Foundation for Southeastern Michigan.”
